NIG specialise entirely in the commercial insurance sector and our partners are insurance brokers.  NIG has a specialist Agricultural Division based in Gloucester with 41 underwriting staff and 23 claims staff supporting FarmWeb's Member Brokers. It was launched in 2002 and it's growth has been aligned with FarmWeb's membership.

To support FarmWeb all staff have agricultural training and a number come from farming backgrounds. Key to the service we offer is  understanding farming and how commercial insurance operates within this specialist market. NIG focus on this sector to deliver a first class service.

Our Insurer Financial Strength Ratings

At the end of 2011 RBS Insurance merged its separate underwriting companies, which included NIG, into a single entity, U K Insurance Ltd (UKI). We are pleased to announce that UKI has since received the following inaugural financial strength ratings:

NIG Gloucester- Management

Andy Brock - Head of Agricultural Business

Andy joined NIG in June 2011 as Head of Agricultural Business. His responsibility is to support FarmWeb's growth in the agricultural insurance market. This includes providing the internal resource to deliver a first class customer claims service and competitive customer proposition. Key to supporting FarmWeb's business is to listen to its member Broker and develop services that continue to put  FarmWeb ahead of the competition in terms of product, price and service.

Andy comes from a farming family in Cheshire and has spent the last 10 years working in the insurance market as General Manager of Motor at Cardif Pinnacle and Commercial Director of London General Insurance.

Rob Basford - Area Underwriter Property & Liability

Rob joined NIG FarmWeb in 2012 & brings a wide range of commercial underwriting experience in both large corporate and mid market package underwriting. Rob's responsibilities are to manage the Farm combined insurance business for NIG, providing guidance and support to the technical underwriters.

Before joining the team Rob held a Senior Commercial Combined trading UW role within an MGA and prior to that was a Property Development Underwriter and has held Client Advisory Broking and placement liason roles within a major national broker. Rob has a strong commitment to working closely with our Farmweb community to deliver a strong and positive  underwriting service to its client base.

Matt Evans - Area Underwriter - Motor

Matt joined NIG FarmWeb in November 2011, having previously gained 11 years experience as a motor underwriter in the personal and commercial lines market both on an insurer and broker level.

Matt's previous roles have included senior underwriting positions with NFU Mutual, Ecclesiastical, Zurich and AON where he has dealt with a wide range of motor covers, including farm and estate insurance.

Matt's responsibility is to manage the NIG FarmWeb motor book of business, ensuring consistency and fairness in NIG's approach to underwriting. This includes the training and development of technical underwriters, listening to the needs of the FarmWeb community and having the ability to react to the ever-changing market conditions.
